Why Young Women Need Feminism (an awesome newsweek article)

Loved this piece; not perfect, but definitely something that spoke to me in a big way. It’s been a personal goal of mine as an RA this year to help my female residents recognize their inner feminist, and I think I have changed at least a few perspectives during my plight. 

As I struggle through post-feminist political theory (yeah, I’m taking women’s studies classes), it’s nice to know that the issues in my textbooks are still being discussed on a national stage.. and on newsweek’s tumblr blog. So anyway - go read the article, and then check out the rest of this week’s cover story. It’s at least worth a look… 

As Gloria Steinem once put it, you’re either a feminist or a masochist. At 28, I now proudly choose the former. I hope the women that come after me won’t have to wait that long.
