(via New York Times) in an article detailing Pfizer’s $20 million+ payments made to 4,500 doctors, health care specialists & medical professionals in just SIX months. The last six months of 2009.
$20 million in SIX months. Just for speaking on Pfizer’s behalf. Pfizer is the world’s largest drug manufacturer.
Keep this in mind while your friends continue to protest Health Care Reform in this country. By protesting HCR, you are also protesting the new laws that will require these types of payments to be disclosed.
Hint: we WANT to know when huge, billion-dollar drug-makers are paying doctors just to endorse their pharmaceuticals. When your doctor is paid a huge check to prescribe you medication, it might not be because the medication will cure you, maybe it’s not in your best interest.
But, when is for-profit medicine for anyone’s best interest?

This is perf for many reasons. The most simple and obvious is “it’s funny, ‘cause it’s true.” Why do old, crusty and hypocritical members of the GOP continue to reinforce & perpetuate the stereotypes about them?

“Well, let’s see. There’s ― of course in the great history of America there have been rulings that there’s never going to be absolute consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but ―” —Sarah Palin, unable to name a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with other than Roe vs. Wade, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008 (Watch video clip)
